Title: Foundation of God’s Throne

  1. What is a foundation?

The foundation determines the sturdiness of the entire house. A house with a weak foundation may tilt at some point without you knowing, causing doors to be out of place or not level. Then, when the situation gets worse, the entire house may collapse.

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus also emphasized the importance of the foundation and said that only if a house is built on a rock, it will not collapse. Could it be that God, who knows the importance of the foundation, haphazardly selected and haphazardly said what the foundation of the throne which He sits should be? Probably not. He must have taken something that is absolutely necessary as a foundation, right?

The foundation of the throne means something that is absolutely indispensable to the kingdom of God. It means something that is essential in carrying out God’s redemptive work, and it explains God’s own basic character, that is righteousness and justice. Then, if you and I have this righteousness and justice today, we will be the ones who establish God’s throne and God’s kingdom forever. In the contrary, if we do not have righteousness and justice, no matter how hard we try, we will ultimately end up destroying God’s kingdom and the history of redemption.

  • What is righteousness and justice?

If we look at Psalm 89:14 or Psalm 97:2, it is written that righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne. The Hebrew word for righteousness is ‘Tzedek’, which means ‘right, righteousness, honesty and justice.’ The Hebrew word for justice is ‘Mishpat’, which means ‘judgement, right or justice.’

The founding pastor explained that to sum up righteousness and justice in one word, that is honesty. The reason is that honesty means the absence of lies, and the absence of lies is the right state in the relationship with God. Numbers 23:19 and Hebrews 6:18 say that God cannot lie. Falsehood cannot exist at the same time as God.

If righteousness and justice which are the foundation of the throne are like a rock that can never be shaken, then lies are like sand. It looks like a foundation, so people build something on top of it, but it is bound to collapse in the end. So, the Bible explains that lies are of the devil. The founding pastor said that because lies cannot exist in God, lies cannot come out of the Word and the truth (Jhn 8:44).

Revelation 21:27 also speaks of three things that cannot enter the kingdom of God: unclean, abomination and lying.

Unclean (Greek) ‘Koinos’ means worldly and defiled. Abomination in Chinese is ‘可憎’ which the first character means ‘right’, the second character mean ‘hate’. So, abomination is a heart that hates righteousness. In other words, dishonest people without righteousness and justice cannot enter the kingdom of God.

  • How can righteousness be restored?

Through Repentance

Romans 8:5 says that those who follow the flesh think about the things of the flesh, and those who follow the Spirit think about the things of the Spirit. Thinking about the things of the flesh means worldly and defiled things spoken of in revelation 21:27.

So how can we change these fleshly thoughts into spiritual thoughts? You must receive the Holy Spirit. And the first step to receiving the Holy Spirit is repentance (Acts 2:38).

When there is true repentance, we can receive the Holy Spirit, think about spiritual things, act honestly, and be filled with righteousness and justice. So, Acts 3:19 says that when you repent, God will grant you times of refreshing and a pleasant day.

The history of Reformed Christianity in Korea lasts only about 120 years. And at the starting point was the Pyongyang Revival Movement that occurred in 1907. It is said that in 1907, there were only about 10,000 Christians in Korea.

However, through the Great Revival, a movement to save one million people began, and in just a few years, the number of Christian believers in Korea increased to 700,000 to 800,000.

Why is repentance important to you?

Is it important because it washes away sins?

I would like to say today that repentance is important because it drives out lies and restores honesty. Therefore, through repentance God’s revival will come to you and me and come upon TLCC.

In conclusion, we must become the firstborn, the foundation of God’s throne (Joshua 6:26). Here, the first born and foundation are connected, and the youngest son (another son) and the door is connected. The founding pastor said that this verse is a very important verse for understanding the foundation of God’s throne.

If the foundation is the firstborn son, then the foundation of God’s throne refers to the firstborn son of God. God’s firstborn son can only be an honest person, a person of righteousness and justice.

The writer of Hebrews writes that the place we reach by faith in Jesus is the heavenly Jerusalem, where there is a general assembly of the firstborn, where God is the judge of all, and where the spirits of the righteous are made perfect (Hebrews 12:22-23).

Dear saints, God’s throne, which is made of righteousness and justice, will never be shaken. Likewise, you and I, God’s firstborns created with honesty, will never waver, and will remain until the end. And staying until the end means becoming a winner.

We must remember that whether we become the final victor or not depends on our honesty, and I pray in the name of the Lord that you live with honesty, become God’s firstborn, and receive all the blessings of becoming victors.  Amen.
