Title: The Will of God
- Characteristics of God’s Will
- It does not change (Heb 6:17)
Ametadetos= unchangeable, immovable, fixed, immutable.
People change their words or decision depending on the situation or their mood. So, to know a person’s heart or will, sometimes you need to look at what kind of situation the speaker is in because by doing it, you may be able to predict what he will do in the future.
However, God is not like that. Once God sets His will, He will not change it no matter what happens. It does not change with time or circumstances. Therefore, to know God’s will, all you have to do is remember the words He first gave you.
- Faithful (Isa 25:1)
Emuna= steadfastness, loyalty, faithfulness
Being faithful is similar to being unchanging, but to put it another way, it means there is no lies. People sometimes lie to achieve some goals. Sometimes, we even use a lie when it comes to the greater goal of glorifying God. Why? Because we think it’s good as long as the results are good. However, God does not use lies. Even if it is for to fulfil or complete God’s will, He does not use lies.
- Wonderful (Isa 28:29)
\Wonderful-Para = amazing, wonderful, extraordinary, things that are too high.
However, humans have never experienced a promise or plan that can be trusted for eternity. So, God’s will is strange and vast to us. It is so strange and so vast that humans cannot fathom it or understand it well.
We live in three dimensional world. If there is a species of human living in the second dimension, he will never been able to understand us living in the third dimension. This is because many things that happen naturally in a three-dimensional world cannot happen in a two-dimensional world.
However, Einstein says in his theory of relativity that the universe is four-dimensional universe, doesn’t that mean He is at least 5-dimensional? So, God’s will and the things He does are incomprehensible to us.
Sprit -> Word -> Writing (Jhn 4:24; Jhn 1:1; Deu 9:10)
- Great (Jer 32:18)
Great-Gadal= big, become important, promote, make strong, make big.
Being great means leading everything in a good direction and producing good results. So there is nothing evil in God. What is one thing God has promised us? What is it that God cares most about? It is to give us eternal life (Titus 1:2).
So, no matter what God does, He guides us on the path to gain eternal life. This is a good result. However, evil (the serpent) tempts and divers us from gaining this eternal life (Jhn 8:44).
- Eternal (Eph 3:11)
Aion= eternity, endless
God has decided to give you eternal life. Then, His will is eternal. God’s will is not something that is used for a while and then thrown away. He will take responsibility forever and until the end.
- It will definitely be achieved (Matt 6:10)
Ginomai= arise, appear, arise, complete
God’s will will not definitely happen and will definitely be completed. We are not the people who achieve our own will (Mark 14:36).
Jesus also put down His will, asking Him not to do His own will, but to do His Father’s will. So, we must always pray for the Father’s will to be done. And the Father’s will will certainly be accomplished.
But why did God explain His will in detail using such a variety of words? At first glance, they all sound similar and the same story, don’t they? There may be various interpretations, but I have come to think that it is a process of building a foundation
God wants us to know the foundation, how it works, how God works and what His heart is. In order to really understand Him, we have to build the foundation strong. At first, there is no difference between those with a strong foundation and those without one, but when great difficulties arise, only those with a strong foundation can survive.
So, I urge and pray that our saints to know the characteristics of God’s will well, engrave it deeply in their hearts, and move forward, believing in God’s will no matter what happens in the future.
