Title: Beautiful Feet of Those who bring glad tidings of good things
If we don’t preach the gospel, how can people come to know God? We need to pass down our faith to our next generation, our family, and our parents. Apostle Paul said beautiful are the Feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things (Rom 10:13-15).
We are the wheels, the feet that can carry Father’s word to wherever it needs to go. It’s not an option but a command to carry this good news to where it needs to go.
Where does this Word need to go? How many countries, how many people have not received the gospel of Jesus Christ?
Isa 52:7 How delightful on the mountains are the feet of one brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, Who announces salvation, And says to Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Good here is ‘hora-o’ that comes from ‘hora’ means in good timing, perfect season. Those whose feet carry the gospel at the right time to the right people. Good timing is what makes it beautiful.
- Apostle Paul’s attitude and posture when preaching the gospel
- He felt indebted or obligated
Romans 1:15 New American Standard Bible15 So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
1.2 He preaches during any circumstances
Often, we have excuses when doing God’s work. Apostle Paul is saying that all these do not stop me from sharing the gospel (2 Cor 11:23-27). Let us stop for a moment and think, what does it stop you from sharing the Word of God?
1.3 He believes in the absolute value (Phi 3:7-8; Luk 19:1; Acts 3:7-8).
- For our feet to become beautiful feet
2.1 They need to be clean
Your feet were washed clean last night. Like Jesus who washed the feet of the disciples so that they can carry the gospels to places. We all had filthy feet. Jesus came to wash the dirty feet so that we can use the same feet to do the work of God.
2.2 You must put on the shoes of the gospel
Peace is something that only Jesus can give us by taking away all our sins and giving us eternal life. When we go out to evangelize, we need to be equipped with the word of evangelism (Eph 6:15; Luk 10:10-11).
- Those who do not have the feet
Are we people who can control our direction and walk towards the will of God or are we walking on our belly’s desires? Are we following our fleshly desires or are we following the beautiful feet? (Matt 3:7; Luk 3:7; Matt 12:34).
Conclusion:
1 Cor 9:16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast about, for I am under compulsion; for woe to me if I do not preach the gospel.
Matthew 8 is about the story of a centurion who came to Jesus and said my servant is dying. Jesus said I will come with you, the Centurion says “Jesus, I am in control of the Roman army, I trust that you are greater than me, you just speak the word, and my servant shall be healed.” Jesus just spoke the word and when He went home, the servant was healed (Mat 8:13).
That very moment is Hora. Jesus spoke the Word; he believed it and went.
That Hora is speaking about the spiritual work of the word being proclaimed and his spirit believing in it and acting upon it, obeying it. And that is ‘hora-o’, that is what it’s called beautiful.
The next story is about the Canaanite woman who was crying out, “help me, my daughter is sick to death.” The disciples wanted to send her away because she was very noisy. Jesus noticed her, she came and bow down before Jesus and asked Jesus to help her daughter. Jesus said I am sent to my children, the Israelites, and the master does not give the bread to the dogs. Basically, He is saying you are like a dog and she says “yes I am like a dog, even the dog eats the crumbs that fall off the table of the children.” She is saying that little crumb of your word is good enough to heal my daughter (Matt 15:25-28).
In Greek, it’s at that Hora. Her faith and Jesus’ word came together. When we clap, one hand and the other hand have to come together and make a sound, that is Hora. Our faith and Jesus’ word have to come together, that is Hora.
Let’s think about it in a spiritual sense. When we become that faith that will receive and becomes the stage where Jesus can do His work, that is when God says Hora-O.
May all members of TLCC becomes Hora-O in the eyes of God. In order for that to happen, God says “go, preach the gospel now.” We should have no excuses. When God says “now it is the time, I want you to go now.” When God says I need you to pray, to proclaim the gospel, this and that, taking that word with faith, so that the word can be lifted up high, that is Hora-O and your spiritual feet will be beautiful feet and be a beauty of God’s creation. Amen!
