Title: The Reason Why 360 Days are Changed to 365 Days
Lunar calendar has 354 days and in order to compensate the difference between the calendar and actual season, it has a leap month every 2 or 3 years. So, all the other countries apart from Egypt used 354 days calendar, whereas Egypt used 365 days calendar. With this in mind, let’s look at the Bible. What is the first calendar the Bibles shows to us (Gen 7:11; Gen 8:3-4).
It started to rain on the 17th day of the 2nd month, and 150 days later, on the 17th day of the 7th month, the Ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 150 days are calculated as 5 months which means 1 month has 30 days, and 1 year has 360 days (Gen 8:1-4).
From the 17th day of the 2nd month of Noah’s 600th year to the 27th day of the 2nd month of Noah’s 601st year, it is 1 year and 11 days.
1 year (360 days)+ 11 days= 371 days
1 year (354 days)+ 11 days= 365 days
The founding pastor Rev Abraham Park said that this shows that the people were aware of both lunar calendar and solar calendar. Who wrote the book of Genesis? It is known as Moses: He was born in the time of Egypt and received all the good education from Egypt.
Let’s think about why God included such story in the Bible, and what He wants to teach us through a calendar of 360 days.
- God wants to give us the desire for restoration
In Gen 7-8’s story, the reason why the flood was brought about was because the people of that time didn’t listen to God and sinned against God. Spiritually speaking, the reason why 360 days are changed to 365 days is because of the sin, our sins: Fundamentally, it is because of the Fall of Adam.
When man fell, it is not only man lost the blessing of eternal life and broken, but the creation as well (Rom 8:20-22). 5 extra days are not 120 hours in this sense but signifies the broken world; the world that is not in order.
Can God just restore things right now? (Jos 10:12-14) During the time of Joshua, he prayed to God to hold up the sun and the moon not to move. God answered him and stopped the sun and the moon. We know that it doesn’t mean that God stopped the sun, but God stopped the revolution and rotation of the earth.
Therefore, the answer is yes, God can fix things any time, and restore things even right now. However, he waits because He wants us to be part of the restoration. Remember, God’s temple is not the place where God dwells only, but God dwells with us. So, He is waiting for us to be His partner in this restoration work (Acts 3:20-21).
Jesus came to us 2000 years ago to save us and to restore things back to 360 days. However, people were not willing to be restored. To be precise, people forgot that they were there in the world of 360 days. He is coming again. He will look for people who is full of desire of restoration, who wants to return to the world of 360 days.
The founding pastor explained that the days of old ultimately means the world of 360 days. When we remember, we will have a desire (Deut 32:7).
- How to be part of God’s restoration
Cold and heat in Gen 8:22 signifies a freezing coldness and scoring heat that harms people and damages people.
However, Prophet Isaiah prophesied that in His kingdom, there will be no harm and no damages (Isa 11:9; Isa 65:25).
It is clear that God is going to restore the creation. From the world of 365 days to the world of 360 days, He will restore. How can we be part of His restoration work?
Rom 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.
The Bible says that the creation is waiting for the appearance of the sons of God. This doesn’t mean the son of God as Jesus but the sons of God as you and me. Therefore, when we return and be reformed as the sons of God, God will restore the creation (Mat 5:9).
How do we become a peacemaker? We have to deliver the Word of peace and reconcile people and God (Phil 2:5-8).
In order to do that, we should have the attitude of Jesus Christ, that is to obey the Word of God even to the point of death.
