Title: Blameless Way
Psalm 101:6 My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He who walks in a blameless way is the one who will minister to me.
David, in this psalm, confessed that he will not be friend with those who betray or practice deceit, but he will follow the blameless way and make friends with those who walk in blameless way.
When it comes to a way, firstly, it is how to get to a destination. Secondly, how to solve a problem. There are thousands or ten thousands of ways as different people has different mindset. Some people prefers to walk, some prefer to travel by sea or by air.
However, one thing we must understand is that not all the ways will get to the destination. If there is a right way, there is a false way. So, the success of our life depends whether we choose the right way or not. Which way we choose will determine our success spiritually and physically.
- Biblical Meaning of a Way
The biblical understanding of a way is how mankind lives and what he chooses in the relationship with God. So, the Bible always presents us two contrast ways.
- Righteous and wise choice
A good way, a way of life, a way of justice (Proverbs 2:9; Proverbs 2:19; Proverbs 8:20).
This is the way that those who want to fulfill their contract and covenant ratified by God will walk.
- Wicked and unwise choice
A wicked way, an evil way (Proverbs 1:15; Proverbs 4:14). This is the way that those who want to break and be freed from their contract and covenant with God will walk.
When it comes to a way, although God plans and predestines His great Will, it is not that God forces some of us to go to a right way and some of us to go to a wrong way. Rather, God gave mankind freewill to choose their way originally.
- Secret to Choose the Right Way
- Give up your choice and entrust it to God entirely (Psalms 37:5).
As we don’t know which way is right, rather than choosing a way for ourselves, we entrust our freewill to God and follow the way that God chooses for us. As God promised to accomplish for us, this is a sure way to walk on the blameless way. To entrust to God is the last option for us.
However, there are some pre-requisites in order to have such relationship with God. As God would not just accept any entrusts from anybody.
- Keep ourselves away from deceit (Psalms 119:29;
1 John 1:6-10)
Deceit or falsehood is the thing God hated most. If we give God an insecure impression that we will go astray and return to our own ways, then God will not lead us.
ii) Listen to reproof gladly (Proverbs15:32; Proverbs 15:12)
The reason why people depart from the way of God is because they do not like to listen to reproofs. If we entrusted ourselves with God, we should take and listen to His reproof with a glad heart.
iii) Trust God unconditionally(Job 23:10; Isaiah 27:8- 9)
Only God knows everything about me. Thus, the way that He chooses for us must be the best choice for us.
- Take an opportunity of a change
Sometimes, we know that the way that we are walking on is not the right one but because we don’t want to lose our face or because of the strong ego we have, we tend to not give up the wrong way. Therefore, practically speaking, to take an opportunity of pivoting and changing is very important (Acts 9:1-9; Gen 32: 24-28)
God changed the name of those who took the opportunity of pivoting and changing. Saul became Apostle Paul, Jacob became Israel, Abram became Abraham through these incidents.
c) Fill your hearts with the desire of God’s Highway (Isaiah 35:8)
Although we may be facing and living in a twisted, corrupted, crooked way right now, we should not forget to long for God’s Highway.
What is God’s Highway?
A pure and clean way (Proverbs 21:8)
A way of understanding (Proverbs 21:16)
A way of departing from evil (Proverbs 16:17)
An ancient way/a good way (Jeremiah 6:16)
Conclusion:
Jesus is the Only True Way We Have
1) We have to follow Jesus’ footstep (John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
Jesus is God Himself but He became a way between God and us in order to reconcile us with God. Then, we also should become a way for others and reconcile them with God (1 Peter 2:21)
- We have to walk with Jesus (Genesis 5:24; Acts 13:22)
Enoch walked with God. David became the man after God’s heart. If Jesus is the true way, we have to walk with Jesus, we have to walk with God.
