03-10-2019 The life that is even lighter than breath

Title: The life that is even lighter than breath

Psalm 39 is the psalm that King David wrote almost at the end of his life. Through verse 1-6, King David confesses he has so much worries and troubles in his life and realizes the vanity of a life. So, through verse 7-13, he repents and asks God to bring about salvation to him.

King David was the most powerful king in the history of Israel. He could be the most powerful in terms of everything than everybody in Israel. We can think of the most successful man in the world today, may it be Bills Gate or Jack Ma perhaps. King David thinks of his life and he thinks that his life is vain. He cannot do anything in his life to resolve his troubles.     As King David realized, when it comes to the moment of death, he was nothing but a mere breath. Likewise, we also must prepare for the ending moment of our life.

  1. Saints must meet God TODAY (The blessing of TODAY)

John 1:1 says that the Word is God. Therefore, TODAY through this service, when we believe in the Word of God, get hold of the Word of God, and read the Word of God, is the moment we meet with God.

Jesus in John 8:51 says that if we keep His Word, we will never see death. Therefore, we must believe and have an eternal life of TODAY.

Hebrew 4:7 He again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “ Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts .”

The bible emphasized the faith of today and the blessing of today. We must have the faith of today and we must have the eternal life of today. Tomorrow is too late. May we have the faith of today and receive salvation today.

When it comes to the matter of returning to God, we cannot just return to God with our lips or just hands but we should return to God wholly, with our lips, with our hearts, and with our body.

  • Saints must feel pity on our life TODAY

When we feel pity about the life we lived, that is when we are spiritually grown up. If we go for a hospital visitation, you will easily see many people looking for God’s mercy because they are sick or they are about to finish their lives. People only ask for God’s mercy when they are in need. People don’t pray and don’t seek God’s mercy because they are so confident and proud of the life they lived. However, the Bible says that God will listen to the prayer that made in the morning: like Psalm 5:3 and Psalm 88:13. Literally speaking, God does value the prayers done in the early morning. However spiritually speaking, God does value the prayers done in the early time of our life: not when we are sick, not when we are about to die, but when we are young and strong. In order to make such early repentance and prayer, we should feel pity on our life that without God our life is empty and vain.

  • Saints must do good works TODAY

Jesus forgave our sin by His precious blood and God gave us the eternal life. God is asking us “Can you do the good works in return?”

Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Titus 2: 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.

If we don’t do God’s wish, but just ask God to enable us to avoid death, do you think God will answer our prayer? If we don’t spend our time, energy and money but ask God to give us eternal life, do you think God will listen to our prayer?

We must do good works not next month, not next year, not when you earn more money but TODAY.

Evangelism is one of the good works God loves most. Let’s spread the Word of eternal life and invite them to His kingdom.

4. Saints must believe there is afterlife TODAY

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Apostle Paul says that when the early tent which is our house is torn down, eternal house will be given to us which refers to the new life. Personal death is not the end of one’s history, there is a life after the death. The world that is coming is eternal, thus it is more important.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Only through Jesus as He is the resurrection and He is the life.

We won’t be able to bring anything we leave the earthly tent (1 Timothy 6:7).

Let’s return to our God by bringing God, the word of God and faith with us so that we may have eternal life today in our life. Amen!
